Application-to-Person

by Kandy, io

A2P, or Application-to-Person, is a term used to describe the delivery of information from an application to a person in an automated way. Typically, this is between a web application and a mobile subscriber by means of a text message or phone call. The application delivers alerts, notifications, or two-factor authentication codes.

This is in contrast with Person-to-Person (P2P) where communication occurs between two people, such as a contact center agent calling a customer or two mobile subscribers exchanging information. Examples of A2P communications includes group chat applications, anonymous dating applications, or virtual phone numbers.
