Two-Factor Authentication

by Kandy, io

2FA, or Two-Factor Authentication, is a mechanism to verify the identity of a user by combining something they know (usually a username and a password) with something they have – a code card, physical key generators, key generator applications and, nowadays, a mobile phone. 2FA makes it more difficult for someone to access an account simply by capturing the user’s login credentials. 2FA is a practical and cost effective tool to reduce the incidence of online identity theft, phishing and other online fraud.
