Rapidly Growing Kandy Communications Platform Now Powers More than 15 Million Users

Just one year old, Kandy.io boasts more than 1,500 customer accounts, 50 ecosystem partners and thousands of innovative use cases 

San Francisco, CA, September 16, 2015 – GENBAND, a leading developer of real-time communications software solutions, today announced that in one year its award-winning Kandy communications Platform as a Service (PaaS) has grown at breakneck speed and is currently powering more than 15 million users. Kandy, which includes platforms such as the fring Over-the-Top solution, is helping communications service providers, enterprises, independent software vendors and systems integrators rapidly deploy real-time communications apps designed for today’s mobile-first economy.  With more than 1,500 customer accounts and 50 partners including global brands such as IBM, Deloitte and SAP, Kandy is helping its ecosystem partners and customers bring thousands of innovative use cases to market.

Customer Deployments:

  • Built on the Kandy platform, the fring over-the-top (OTT) solution has helped progressive service providers all over the world (M2 Dodo in Australia, Bouygues Telecom in France and PLDT in the Philippines) maintain and grow their subscriber bases.
  • Masergy’s new Visual Automated Attendant application leverages Kandy’s embedded real-time communications capabilities and WebRTC technology to enable its business customers to take online customer engagement to a new level by creating customized menu options and offering live customer support via the web browser.
  • The TelePsych Alliance is using Kandy to power the MindMe platform, one of the first real-time communications enabled suicide prevention apps. Leveraging Kandy’s WebRTC technology MindMe makes it easier for an individual to reach out to a therapist or counselor in real-time and contextually communicate without resorting to standard telephone counseling or going to a website.
  • Skywriter MD is leveraging Kandy to power its revolutionary technology by providing physicians with real-time, virtual Electronic Health Record (EHR) assistance services via the ability to see and select an available Skywriter (virtual scribe), on-screen and voice collaboration, client side voice recording and replay, and rich messaging.

  • Tech Mahindra joined the Kandy ecosystem to gain the ability to quickly deliver innovative, real-time communications capabilities for enterprises and service providers around the world. Tech Mahindra is also creating a center-of-excellence dedicated to leveraging the entire platform. 
  • Deloitte Digital is leveraging Kandy to drive disruption by bringing real-time engagement to large enterprises and software vendors around the world.
  • VoiceBase, a leading provider of cloud-based voice transcription, search and discovery, teamed with Kandy to offer embedded capabilities with on-demand speech analytics.



Innovation:

  • Use Cases - Kandy is already supporting thousands of use cases including systems integrator Vizicom which is using Kandy in its Toy Genius offering to improve the online shopping experience by providing real-time contextual customer support.
  • The Kandy Throwdown - provided software makers and developers an opportunity to win $30,000 in prizes by leveraging Kandy in their communications apps. The grand prize winner developed an intelligent IOT app based on automobile sensor data. The app leverages Kandy’s WebRTC capabilities to allow accident victims to collaborate in real-time via video conference with insurance companies, hospitals and first responders.
  • Hackathons – Kandy has hosted hackathons online and throughout North America, providing thousands of developers with a chance to win prizes and create innovative apps that are being leveraged by service providers, enterprises, systems integrators and software vendors. An international hackathon which will hit 24 major cities around the globe over the next year will launch in 2015 in partnership with major tech companies.
  • KandyMobile - a state-of-the-art tour bus fully equipped with Kandy technology and demonstrations has traveled more than 20,000 miles, providing everyone from developers to C-level executives the opportunity to experience Kandy firsthand.
